Our Expertise.

“We are dedicated to creating projects which fully integrate the needs of our clients with the nature of their sites.”

Well-known for our architecture practice in the heart of California’s Big Sur Coast since 1980, Studio Carver brings a fresh approach to designs for challenging sites. Shaped by our experiences on the Carmel-Monterey Peninsula, we design to the ambiance of ocean, cliffs, mountains, and the wilderness. • Studio Carver has always practiced sustainable design, and all of their projects “tread lightly on the land.” Rob Carver, who studied at U.C. Berkeley’s College of Environmental Design and was one of the original contributors to the Big Sur Land Use Plan, specializes in coastal land use planning and architecture and the use of green technologies and materials. The first house that he designed in 1978 had a sod roof and he received his LEED accreditation in 2009.
